6th Grade Science Camp 2008 in Prescott, AZ

Most of the teachers... very ready to go home after 3 days with the kids! I was excited to go this year because I taught some of these kids in 3rd grade, 4th grade, or both. They had fun panning for gold, going on a hike, learning how to use a compass, disecting owl pellets, learning about trees, making ice cream, identifying plants and animals, etc.
This is a picture I took for my class. Since we only study AZ for Social Studies we have a few horses that travel with the when they visit other places in the state.

Marlow and I. I had her cute daughter last year in my class.

Kristin and I. We took turns having the students disect owl pellets. Funny story - I was looking at the box that the owl pellets came from and to my surprise I found they came from Bellingham, WA! That is about 20 minutes from where I grew up!!!
I guess that the owl pellet job was featured on the Most Dirtiest Jobs. Well deserved in my book!
My Science Camp roomate Whitney. She is so fun!

My friend Ryan and I. He used to live on the Canadian Border too, although he was in Michigan.

The party house!

Every year my parents come and visit us in October and bring some friends to get away from the gray rainy weather! We had a full house this year as I also invited Jinil! We had a great time playing hand and foot (a card game), eating outside (because we could), swimming and waiting for the baby to come (at the time).

Pool party!!! Swimming in October! When my parents come to visit we turn on the heat! Usually it is 95-98 degrees!!! I love it! We call it "swimming" but in essence it is just visiting in the hot tub!

She is growing too fast!

Too cute!

The happy family!

Cute pictures of Brielle!

I am definatley in love!!! She is my favorite!!!
We are so lucky that Grandma and Grandpa Curry live so close to us! Grandpa is telling Brielle stories! How cute!

I think she looks like a cabbage patch kid here! What a doll! :)

Believe it or not, this is how she loves to be held! Weird but true!

Super model!

Veterans' Day

Proud to be an American...and Canadian!!!
This is Lindsey and I after our fourth grade musical. (The other teachers bailed on our picture!)
And yes, I know it looks like there are wings coming out of our heads! We should have sat down, who knew we were just at the right (wrong) height!
Our students performed a variety of patriotic songs...which I absolutely love! They worked really hard and they did a great job. All the students were AMANZING when the CD skipped. They had just finished the first part of God Bless America and then watched the choir director intently for directions. She waited to see where the music was but then it ended. She had them start again at the second verse. They sang it accapella with the sign language they rehersed and they didn't miss a beat! I thought it was much better than it was supposed to be!!! I loved hearing the purity in their singing!
One of the teachers made a slide show of all the fourth grade student's ansestors who are Veterans' and set it to touching music. It was so beautiful. I loved being able to see my grandpa on the huge screen, looking very handsome, and being so proud of his sacrifice. I miss him dearly!
I love you grandpa!

Hangin' out like old times!

Jinil flew in to visit us over my fall break. It was fun to have her come and play with us! We went swimming, played cards, went shopping, visited with family, and of course ate a lot! YUM! Sorry about your diet Jinil!

Class Halloween Party

I usually don't blog about my class because I can't put pictures up of my students, but you can't tell who is in this picture! :) During our Halloween party I had my students get into groups of three or four and then they had a set amount of time to decorate one of them into a mummy using tp. It was a lot of fun seeing how creative they got! One team used the tp empty rolls to have curls on their mummy's head and another group wrapped each limb seperately. They had a great time doing this activity, but I think we had a better time laughing (with them of course)!!!

Halloween

Brielle's first holiday!
She is a darling little flower, but she is swimming in it! She is only nine days old though.
I think her tongue is adorable! Isn't that hereditary?

Brielle Elizabeth Bridges

I LOVE being an aunt!!!I love having her around the house!
Posing for the picture (while sleeping...multitalented I tell you)!

I have gotten the chance to babysit her for a little bit here and there and she is quite funny. Heather is adjusting to my mom not being here to help her. She is such a great mom (BOTH OF THEM!)! I really can't get enough of Brielle. I just want to kiss her all the time!

Where to go?????

So I have been checking out other wards to go to since they have released me from my calling and taken both my home and visiting teachers away. I guess it is their HINT to me to leave the ward because I am too old. I went to a single adult ward last Sunday and the family ward today.

The single's ward was really weird! It is supposed to be 31-45 years old but I swear that there were older people there! One lady was in a motorized chair and most of the men were bald or have gray hair!!!! I definately looked like the youngest one there!!! It is even worse than the young single adult ward in aspects of dating. Don't they realize that when we get this old we know what we are supposed to do?!?!?!? We don't have to be constantly reminded of what our dating life should be! One of the announcements from that ward was that as ONE of our "DATING STRATEGIES" we should be attending all the dances. And...I guess to "get into" the ward you have to say that you are willing to date a lot. What does that mean? You have to go out with everyone who asks you? Or you should be on a date at least X amount of times a week? My goodness!!!!! I did meet some nice down to earth people there, thank goodness!

The family ward was o.k. The people were "normal" so that was nice. The two things that I hate about the family ward are I feel like everyone and their cute families are rubbing it in my face because that is all I have ever wanted and the kids are so loud that I have a hard time concentrating! I know that it is not anyone's intent on making me feel sad that I am not married or have any children, but I do feel jelous. And I know jelousy is not from God, but that is how I feel. I am tring to change that. It is also hard because they constintly talk about family, which is great and an essential part of the church, but it doesn't make it any easier for me!

I am confused because I don't feel like I fit in anywhere. Sorry, I am just venting!

That time of year again!!!

If you flip up the footballs it gives their goals, how they are a good teammate, etc.
Yes...that is astroturf!

The cute girls I work with! They are so darling!
We have 5 fourth grade classes this year and included in this picture is a student teacher.

I have officially survived the first two weeks of school!!! This year (so far) I only have 25 kids and that is really nice! It is much faster to grade papers, easier to keep up with each student and their needs, their parents, paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, and easier to keep my sanity!!! :) I am not saying it is perfect, I have a couple that will give me a run for my money, but for the most part I have a really good class that respects each other and me!

I went into school for a few days over the summer and got organized! YEA! That was one of my goals. It has been nice to work at my desk and have everything right where I need it! I hope to be so efficient so I can leave work earlier. Next goal... leave school before the janitors come to clean it! Wish me luck! :)

Locks of Love

My sister cut 12 inches off! It feels really weird, but I love it! I haven't had my hair this short since I was in 4th grade! Crazy!
P.S. I tried to put these in order but I don't know how. Can anyone help me?

4th of July!

Kid's parade at Woodlawn Park in San Antonio.
Kaden ready to go! Can you see his red, white, and blue hair?!?!?! He was quite the hit! He constantly had people taking his pictures!

Clown balancing Kaden's bike on his chin! "Now can you do it without the training wheels?"

Clowns from the Ringling Brother's Circus! We liked the one in the green shirt! He was cool! Flirting with the clown!!! ;-)
